Hestia – is the Greek Goddess of the hearth, which belonged to the twelve supreme Olympians, the eldest daughter of Cronus and Rhea, sister of Zeus. She is the only one of the Olympian gods and goddesses, who never fought and never quarreled. As the goddess of sacred fire, Hestia was a virgin; Apollo and Poseidon were wooing her, but she swore an oath to remain a girl forever. A fire dedicated to her was the center of all home life and, consequently, she was considered the goddess of efficient housekeeping and home happiness. Hestia was revered in every house and every shrine.
